• How do I take them?

  Suggested Use

  Start with 2 tablets per day. The best time to take SAM-e is on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before a meal. Clinical studies indicate that benefits are most likely evident in as little as 7–14 days of supplementation. If benefits are not achieved within two weeks, you may require a higher level of supplementation. To help determine the proper level of supplementation that works for you, gradually increase the number of tablets (maximum 1,600 mg/day) and consult with your doctor until benefits are achieved.

  Interactions

  People with bipolar (manic) depression or who are experiencing severe issues with mood, including thoughts of suicide, should not take this or any other product containing SAM-e except under a doctor's supervision. If you are pregnant or nursing, or taking prescription antidepressant medications, consult your doctor before using this product. Given that no two people are alike, if you are taking any medications you should be aware that potential drug-nutrient interactions may occur and are encouraged to consult a healthcare professional before using this product.

  Use Caution

SAM-e should be avoided when taking: St. John’s Wort and MAO Inhibitors, like Marplan, Nardil, Parnate and Manerix. SAM-e should be used with caution and only under a doctor’s supervision when combined with other drugs that increase neurotransmitters in the body, such as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).
